On Wednesday July 17, the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo was by joined by Prefect Marc Guillaume and head of the Olympic organizing committee Tony Estanguet for a long awaited dip in the Seine.
Swimming in the Seine is now possible - the proof is in the pictures! As pledged, the Mayor of Paris took a dip in the Parisian river at the Quai de la Tournelle, facing Île Saint-Louis, after water quality indicators were positive for several consecutive days. The swim was made possible by the weather conditions and the Austerlitz storage basin, which opened this spring and can store some 50,000 m3 of wastewater.
