What if artists were inspired by decathlon events to create collaborative pieces that were both sporting and artistic?
This year, the City of Paris has entrusted internationally renowned artists such as Claire Tancons, Mohammed El Khatib, Benjamin Millepied and Raymond Depardon to bring the Cultural Olympiad to life. Having already started in April, their task is to take over Parisian public spaces during festivities and events. In addition to these major unifying events, the City of Paris will be setting up festive sites in every arrondissement throughout the summer as part of the "Paris fête les Jeux" program. With event broadcasts, sports classes, shows and free entertainment, Parisians and visitors from all over the world will experience Parisian fervor.
Choreographers, stage directors and visual artists are revisiting decathlon discipline's ten emblematic events to create a grand artistic and sporting celebration. Eléa-Jeanne Schmitter, Olivier Martin-Salvan, Bertrand Bossard and his horse Akira, Marine Collard, Anne-Flore Cabanis and Thomas Bellorini will take over CENTQUATRE-PARIS and the surrounding area for participatory performances open to all with no prerequisites or special skills required. For the whole day, the CENTQUATRE will be turned into an Olympic-like stadium with matching colors forten original performances from the artists. This festive and unifying event is open to all age groups and is designed to be entirely collaborative. Join in the fun!
