The authorized swimming area in the Récollets neighborhood (10th arrondissement) is open along the Canal Saint-Martin, between 116 and 126 Quai de Jemmapes, through July 5, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m every Sunday.
Good news : the designated swimming area set up on the Canal Saint-Martin (the area known as Basse des Récollets,10th arrondissement) is open from July 5 through August 30, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m every Sunday. The area is approximately 100 meters long.
This swimming area may be closed depending on weather conditions. Water quality is tested weekly to determine whether or not swimming is permitted.

Monitoring, prevention (and a ban on jumping off footbridges)

To properly organize this swimming area, the City is providing all the necessary facilities (lifeguards, dock, etc.) for its operation.
It is recommended that you take a shower with soap after swimming; the city provides a shower on site.
Preventive measures and security around the beach will be stepped up, and the municipal police will also be on hand to get swimmers out of the water at closing time.
It is also strictly prohibited to jump off footbridges.
In fact, the City has issued an order prohibiting access to the following footbridges: the Jane Birkin Footbridge (10th arrondissement)—near the locks—and the Emmanuelle Riva Footbridge (10th arrondissement).
Starting July 4 and throughout the summer, swimmers will be able to swim in designated areas of the Seine, the Canal Saint-Martin, or the Bassin de la Villette.

Watch out for heatstroke!

All swimming carries risks, the most serious of which is thermal shock. In hot weather, the thermal shock the body experiences when entering the water too quickly can cause loss of consciousness and drowning. To avoid thermal shock, thoroughly wet your head, neck, face, and back before entering the water, and enter the water gradually.
