Meet medal-winning athletes from all over the world at the Parc des Champions, set up in the Trocadéro gardens (16th arrondissement). It's free and open until August 10.
"Est-ce que les français sont là?", the home crowd's roar echoes through the stands at the Trocadéro in response to the announcer question. Over 10,000 spectators are waving French, German, British, Swedish, American, and Japanese flags. Welcome to the Parc des Champions in the 16th arrondissement!
Set in the Trocadéro gardens, this site offers a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower (7th), and provides an opportunity to meet the Olympic medalists of days gone by.

We love all champions, whatever their country of origin!

Ines et Sabine
German fans
Sitting in the stands, Ines and Sabine wave small German flags. Who are they waiting for? " We came to see the swimmer Lukas Märtens (gold medal for Germany in the 400-meter freestyle), but we love all champions, whatever their country of origin! I first saw the Olympic Games at the London 2012 Games," confides Ines, in Paris, the atmosphere is exceptional!"
Further ahead, Daniel hopes to catch a glimpse of an athlete from his native Brazil. But he admits he's waiting for a French swimmer, who isn't actually on today's program: "I'd like to see Léon Marchand. All my French friends are talking about him!" smiles the young man, who makes a stop at the Parc des Champions before heading off to the Saint-Denis aquatic center to enjoy some water polo matches.
"Léon Marchand!" The name of the multi-medal-winning swimmer (5 medals, including 4 individual golds and one team bronze) is chanted by the crowd. His fans can rest assured: he'll be making a stop at the Trocadéro on Monday, August 5!

If I've won, it's thanks to you [the fans]

Anthony Jeanjean
BMX Freestyle bronze medalist
We descend into the pit of the open-air stadium. On the long stage, a DJ and a voguing show keep the spectators waiting. Then it's time for the medalists to make their appearance! The spotlight doesn't always fall on the most talked-about athletes. While not every medalist may be in attendance, a variety of disciplines receive recognition, including rowing, canoeing, gymnastics, and diving.
The French were in full voice when Anthony Jeanjean, bronze medalist in BMX freestyle, appeared at the Concorde. The athlete, who had fallen in the first heat of his final, consoled himself with a gold medal on the clap'o'meter: "If I've won, it's thanks to you," he says to the thousands of cheering fans.
In the crowd, Corentin, French flag on his shoulders, savors the moment: "I'm a first-aider on the competition sites, and I came to see all the athletes who shone yesterday. These Games are off to a good start, and the Parisians look happy, they're even smiling!". Catch you later for further gatherings with the medalists at Trocadéro!
