A=Paris de la recherche : six portraits
The second Paris Research Evening, which puts the spotlight on science and knowledge, will this year take place at the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall) on 10 October 2012. This event will mark the encounter between the research and innovation communities. On this occasion, 14 winners of the “Emergence(s)” call for projects will present their work and seven innovative projects from the “Centre of Competitive Excellence” call for projects will exhibit their research.
Every year, the City organises the “Emergence(s)” programme, which supports innovative research projects presented by young researchers or research professors and lasting three years with the aim of:
- creating a new research team,
- developing a young research team (created less than two years ago).
All disciplines are involved in this programme, including medical research and health.

The Fonds Unique Interministériel (FUI) and the local authorities co-finance the collaborative research and development projects of the Centres of Competitive Excellence. A centre of competitive excellence brings together in the same area companies, training centres and research units involved in innovative common projects which are large enough to have international visibility. This system makes it possible to support applied research projects on the development of products or services likely to be put on the market in the short or medium term.

Three guest speakers will be invited to talk about their careers during the Paris Research Evening. At the same time, the City of Paris suggests that you discover the portraits of six teams of researchers who have received this funding.
