On 21 June, enjoy free concerts in all public places, streets, gardens, squares, etc. It is a musical start to summer in Paris and throughout France. But how can you play without breaking the law?
It all began in 1982. The first Music Festival was launched at the initiative of the French Ministry for Culture and Communication. The event was open to all amateur musicians and became the greatest musical occasion in France. This free festival spread to a large number of countries on all five continents.

In Paris and in the majority of French towns. Outside France, there are also a large number of events taking place, particularly involving the French cultural network overseas.
Jazz, classical, rock, accordion music, hip-hop, Celtic music, Corsican chants, etc. There is a very diverse range of events! The original feature of this event is that most concerts are organised by amateur musicians.
How can you take part?
The Festival is open to all musicians. On 21 June, you are free to play music in Paris from 6 pm to 12.30 am, provided that you keep to a noise level which is bearable for the neighbourhood.
You simply need to make a declaration at the Police headquarters, by email or by post.

Where can you listen to music?
In Paris, the main squares (Bastille, République, Nation, etc.) often have huge stages. The Place Denfert-Rochereau regularly hosts pop rock artists and the esplanade of the Château de Vincennes is also a favourite spot for large concerts. Music is welcome everywhere: parks and gardens (Tuileries, Luxembourg, Buttes-Chaumont, etc.), museum courtyards, cafe terraces and especially local streets and small squares. In the streets of the Latin quarter, for example, in those of Le Marais, near the mound of Montmartre, on the banks of the St Martin canal, etc.
